Company history

Today Ecron Acunova A/S  is well on its way changing into a full service development CRO with broad and in-depth drug development expertise and strong presence in the Nordic area. The business focus on clinical testing of pharmaceuticals and medical devices in flexible and innovative solutions remains a key business area of Ecron Acunova A/S.

Embracing the full drug development process implies changing the company from being a clinical CRO into a development CRO. This requires a wider range of competences in the company and expertise in product development and regulatory affairs complementing our competences in clinical development. Changing Ecron Acunova A/S into a development CRO began with the enclosure of BGAdvice in December 2007. BGAdvice by Birgitte Guldhammer contributed with extensive experience in cross-organisational project management, and in driving the processes on inventions from product ideas into drug development.

EcronAcunova bought the majority of shares in aCROnordic in May 2011 and aCROnordic changed name to Ecron Acunova A/S . The former aCROnordic was founded in May 2003. Until June 2004 the name of the company was SpadilleMedimentum. The history of the company goes back almost four decades as Spadille, the first CRO in Scandinavia, was established in 1971. In 2003 Spadille and Spadille Clinical Trials merged with technology leading CRO, MediMentum, and became SpadilleMedimentum. The merger was driven by both Spadille's desire to embrace new technologies and Medimentum's wish to offer a broader range of services related to clinical trials. The founder of Medimentum, Søren Strøh, became CEO of aCROnordic and is now CEO of EcronAcunova A/S.
